Diane Scardino

Ms. Scardino is principal with DMS Healthcare Advisors, her newly-launched consulting firm that works with clients to transform operations and optimize system performance in healthcare delivery and payor environments.  Her areas of focus include both care delivery and insurance entities, encompassing care coordination, utilization management, member engagement and retention, transition medicine, and global health outreach.

Ms. Scardino’s expertise was earned by her more than fifteen years with Texas Children’s Healthcare System, during which she rose to the position of Vice President.   Her experience included successful development and implementation of strategic initiatives and programs, care coordination, physician engagement, turnaround projects, service line and new business development, and facilities planning.

In 2017 Ms. Scardino’s responsibilities shifted to the payer side of healthcare as she helped lead an operational turnaround for Texas Children’s Health Plan that covered approximately 430,000 lives.  She also facilitated foundational work toward a system care coordination and population health strategy.

Ms. Scardino earned her BBA in Marketing and Organizational Management from The University of Houston’s Bauer College in 1992, and her MBA/MHA in Health/Health Care Administration/Management from UH Clear Lake in 1995.  Her professional affiliations include the American Leadership Forum, American College of Healthcare Executives, Children’s Hospital Association, and Texas Association of Community Health Plans.  She is an advocate for mentorship and education, and has served on board positions for Mental Health America of Greater Houston, the UH Bauer College of Business Dean’s Advisory Board, and her neighborhood civic club.  She is married, with two sons and two spoiled chocolate labs.
